Close to 30 political prisoners aged between 20 to 80 who were freed on May 17, attended the event on Friday. Monographs detailing the people’s memories and experiences in the past elections were also read. The ceremony marks the 21st anniversary of the multiparty general elections in 1990, which the NLD won, but was never allowed to govern.
