Morning Update: Giuliani on Gitmo
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Saturday, Rudy Giuliani discussed some of his foreign policy views. He defended the Patriot Act, electronic surveillance, and the use of “interrogation techniques that are legal but aggressive” in the face of the terrorist threat. He also said Guantanamo should remain open and discussed his views on Iran.
Democratic candidates attempted to appeal to the Latino vote (New York Daily News) at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials over the weekend. At the event, Hillary Clinton responded to comments by likely candidate Fred Thompson that the now-failed immigration bill could make the U.S. more vulnerable to terrorists from Cuba, saying Thompson “doesn’t know a lot of Cuban-Americans.”
