Morning Update: Clinton’s Foreign Policy
The Chicago Tribune’s Steve Chapman looks at Hillary Clinton’s foreign policy, which he says “combines a thirst for altruistic missions with a faith in the value of military force to get what you want.”
Bill Richardson weighed in on the debate between Sens. Clinton and Barack Obama about whether to engage in talks with nations like Iran and Venezuela. Richardson, who has extensive diplomatic experience, said he was in favor of “hard-nosed negotiations” (WashPost) if they would help solve a crisis.
Meanwhile, Obama told NBC that requiring preconditions for negotiations with those countries would be “continuing with Bush-Cheney policies” and called on Clinton to explain her stance.
