Morning Update: Clinton-Obama Rift
Sen. Hillary Clinton criticized Sen. Barack Obama recently for commenting on the use of nuclear weapons, but she said in April 2006 in reference to Iran, she “would certainly take nuclear weapons off the table.” Her campaign said this should not be compared to Obama’s statement, since “She wasn’t talking about a broad hypothetical, nor was she speaking as a presidential candidate.
The Politico looks at the ongoing debate over immigration between Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani. Responding to Romney’s charge that New York was a “sanctuary city” for illegal immigrants during Giuliani’s time as mayor, the Giuliani campaign said, “Despite his recent opposition to sanctuary cities, as governor, Mitt Romney recommended over $324 million in state aid to Massachusetts sanctuary cities Cambridge, Orleans and Somerville.”
The Democratic candidates discussed gay rights last night at a debate in California sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign.
