Morning Update: Huckabee’s Minuteman
Jim Gilchrist, founder of the anti-illegal immigrant group the Minuteman Project, endorsed Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee yesterday. Huckabee won out over anti-illegal immigration candidate Tom Tancredo (R-CO) even though Gilchrist said Tancredo was the “inspiration for launching the Minuteman Project.” The endorsement also comes as something of a surprise considering accusations from Huckabee’s opponents that he is soft on illegal immigration, like this new ad from the Romney campaign:
Republican Fred Thompson commented on Cuba policy yesterday while touring the Bay of Pigs Museum in Little Havana, Miami. Leader Raul Castro is “no spring chicken” (AP) and the Cuban people “with the right kind of assistance, ultimately will be the source of their own freedom,” he said.
In an interview with 20/20, Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) discussed his world view. He called the Korean War “totally unjustified,” the Vietnam War “a horror,” and the Gulf War “a border dispute” that was “not our business.”
