In reference to CFR.org’s Issue Tracker, “The Candidates on Energy Policy,” reader David Barth writes:
There are three current Senators, two ex-Senators and one current Representative running for the office of President of the United States, none of which has introduced any legislation to alleviate the energy cost problem. Consequently, regardless what they say now has no currency as walking the walk trumps talking the talk. In fact, some of them have refused to back any legislation enough so it could be brought up for debate.
So much for energy leadership. If you don’t back other’s solution I expect you to have one of your own, otherwise shut up. A bill was introduced in 2001 by President Bush and the Congress refused to even debate it and/or offer any alternative. We have a energy crisis because of the U.S. Congress, a fact that show how much term limits are needed for the self-serving body.–David Barth, CFA
