Eyeing the Latino Vote
Ahead of today’s Super Tuesday primaries and caucuses in 24 states, Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) is hoping for significant turnout from Latino voters. Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) campaigned for Obama in East Los Angeles last week. Obama also received endorsements from the top Spanish language newspapers in Chicago and Los Angeles in recent days.
Politico says Obama “has pointed out key differences” between himself and Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) on immigration, attempting to “break Sen. Hillary Clinton’s long-standing alliance with Hispanics.” The Washington Post says Tuesday’s votes will prove whether he can win the Latino vote.
Anti-illegal immigration groups are rallying against front-running Republican John McCain, the New York Times reports.
The Wall Street Journal says Tuesday’s voting will come down to issues of personality and character rather than “big ideas” or policy.
