In response to CFR.org’s Backgrounder, “The Role of Delegates in the U.S. Presidential Nominating Process,” reader Hazel Merriweather writes:
Suppose the public majority in a particular state supports one candidate and the majority of the votes go to that candidate. Does the delegate have to vote in the manner of the majority, or can he/she cast a different vote?
Can the public have the names of the delegates and how they cast their individual votes?
