Morning Update: GOP Truce
Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney endorsed Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for president Wednesday, saying McCain “understands the war we are in — the necessity of victory and the consequences of surrender.”
More than a week after the New Mexico Democratic caucus, a final count showed Wednesday that Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) won 48.8 percent of the popular vote (AP), compared with Sen. Barack Obama’s 47.6 percent. According to exit polls, nearly three-fifths of Hispanic women voters in New Mexico picked Clinton.
Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega Wednesday said Obama’s presidential run is “laying the foundations for a revolutionary change” (AP) in the United States.
In an appeal to members of the military, Clinton has been running a new campaign ad in Texas, touting her advocacy work for expanded health care for the National Guard.
