President Bush endorsed presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain Wednesday. Bush said he is trying to get affairs with countries like Iran, Iraq and North Korea in “as good a position as possible” so that McCain “can deal with these issues in a way that yields peace” when he is elected. The Wall Street Journal argues Bush’s backing could be a mixed blessing for the Republican candidate.
In a statement Wednesday, Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) praised a new UN Security Council resolution that would increase pressure on Iran to cease its “illicit nuclear program.” Obama called for “a strategy of aggressive diplomacy” with Iran, including a possible incentive of World Trade Organization membership.
