Morning Update: In Mississippi, the Economy Again
In Tuesday’s Mississippi Democratic primary, won by Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), voters surveyed by exit polls once again listed the economy as their main concern by far. Exit polls found fifty-five percent of Mississippi voters named the economy as their top voting issue. Of those voters, 56 percent voted for Obama, while 42 percent chose Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY). Iraq and health care were both listed by twenty-one percent of voters as the most important issue facing the country, and Obama clearly outpolled Clinton among those voters as well.
