dr. dan -- thanks for highlighting the troubles with the comments. we are working on it.

indian banker -- thanks for the heads up re: india selling $. Other ASians are too. the big hoards of $ tho right now are in China and the oil exporters, and i think they are still buying. they are buying more than oil importing asia is selling. but india, vietnam, philippines and probably others are now facing depreciation pressures. I am a bit surprised by the reversal re: india. it was really intervening quite heavily around the turn of the year.

deposits make up a much smaller share of algeria's assets. At the end of 2007, deposits were about $10 billion and Algeria reported reserves of around $110 billion.

Yes - I may have projected an even more conservative view of Kuwait than current trends would dictate. But spending is still not accelerating at the same pace that current Libyan plans might indicate.

Algeria has consistently had a lower share of deposits than Libya. Their current total stock is about $10billion compared to a $110 billion reserve stock at the end of last year.

Point taken about Kuwait. The graph above may have reflected an even more conservative perspective than current trends project.

i am surprised that Kuwait also remains as conservative as the chart above implies, with a current account that comes close to balancing even if oil is around $30.

Do you have a sense of how Algeria -- another big North American oil exporter -- is managing its reserves? My guess is that it too mostly has deposits.

Not sure if you guys know, Indian central banking was selling USD all through last week to step currency depreciation.

I am not sure if US will attract capital easily going forward.
